The ones everyone assumes are just a story. However, when Violet turns up, asking Herbert to take on a lost and found case of a different nature, he finds himself neck deep in a mystery that will have him taking a closer look at the folklore tales of his town. He prides himself on being able to match lost items with their owners. Herbert Lemon is has the important job of being the lost-and-founder at a seaside hotel. Malamander is one of these fantastic books that fills that gap! Often middle grade books are a little too childish for some ‘soon to be teenagers’ but the themes in YA books are not quite appropriate for them yet. I’m so glad to see more books being released that fill that gap between the younger side of middle grade and young adult reads. Thankyou to Walker Books for providing me with a copy of Malamander, in exchange for an honest review. Other characters in the story include Violet Palma, who is lost and needs to be found, and the eponymous Malamander, who controls people’s dreams. Malamander is told from the perspective of Herbert Lemon, the Lost-and-Founder of the Grand Nautilus Hotel, who tries to unite objects that have been left at the hotel with their owners.
